Brian Epstein, born Brian Samuel Epstein on September 19, 1934, was an English music entrepreneur who is best known as manager of The Beatles. He discovered them in November 1961 at a lunchtime performance at the Cavern Club, a center of the rock and roll music scene in Liverpool, England in the 1960s, and signed them to a 5 year contract as their manager on January 24, 1962. Epstein battled an addiction to amphetamines and died of an overdose of barbiturates on August 27, 1967.

In 2014, Epstein was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s “Non-Performers’ Section”.
